Thank you for taking the time to write this.

I'm working on my undergrad in fine arts, and have been pounding my head against the wall working on an application to study abroad at a notably difficult school to gain acceptance to.

Needless to say, it is imperative to somehow include my artistic goals in my statement of purpose - and while I do have goals, being a visual person, I often find difficulty in putting words to them.

I find nothing in the world is more satisfying than completing a piece of work or coaxing a plant out of the ground. Given my apartment could be considered a tiny jungle, I'm mildly surprised at myself for not reaching for that sort of metaphor on my own - but in any case this particular visualization has really hit home for me, and again I appreciate the time and consideration you took to share.

Good to hear, Mark. I use organic goal setting myself (guitar) and it allows me to love and nourish and grow my creative abilities in a way that's (mostly) unpressured and always enjoyable.

thanks, I'm on a journey to expand and pursue my art more deeply and seriously (but without being too serious about it)...setting goals is the beginning of my next phase...a hobbyist with some direction is starting to emerge. I plan to read more of your work.
